Surf on! - Newquay is famous for its world class surfing conditions, and Fistral beach is the hot spot for all the pros - Watch out if you're learning to ride, as the sea gets jam packed! Fistral beach surf school is the place to book lessons or just hire a board for the day.
Visit the lions - Newquay Zoo is a very popular and exciting attraction for a family day out. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre, the zoo is a leader in research and conservation work of endangered animals. The also Park features an outdoor play area and tunnel slides. Visit their website for an A-Z list of animals they have at the zoo. Take the kids on a steam train – Visit Lappa Valley which is more suited to children under 8 years old. There is plenty of things to do including; a lake with pedalos, go karts, indoor and outdoor playgrounds and of course the nostalgic steam train rides through beautiful Cornish countryside. |
Jump in a jet – Climb into and explore real jet fighters and bombers from the 1940s-1980s, stored in a vast ex-royal air force shelter hanger. With an impressive collection of over 1500 model aircrafts, you can also watch the real thing taking off from Newquay airport right next door!
Visit the aquarium - Would you like to see Black Tip Reef Sharks, giant pacific octopus’s and underwater tunnels?! Then the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay is a must-see attraction for you! Get up close and personal with amazing sea life walking through the underwater tunnels, including a variety of big sharks, brightly coloured fish and also the venomous lionfish! The aquarium is home to more than 40 innovative displays of underwater sea life, with regular feeding displays and rock-pool workshops, this is a great place to take the kids for a few hours! Jump off a cliff - With the guidance of an experienced coasteering instructor from 'Newquay Activity Centre' of course! Brave Cornwall's hardcore coastline on the same routes taken by pirates and smugglers, explore the hidden caves and crevices. An adrenaline filled day leaping from the cliff edge into deep water plunge pools, whilst learning about the history of this area of coast. |

Newquay's hosts a number of festivals and surf competitions throughout the year - The most popular with locals and visitors is ‘Boardmasters’ festival. Established in 1981, it is a 5-day event with surf competitions and an array of live music featuring huge artists! Past headline acts include; Snoop Dogg, Bastille, Chase and Status and Ben Howard. |
