Lands End
Known for breath-taking clifftop views, long coastal walks and being Britain's most south-westerly point! With over half a million visitors every year, Lands End is one of the biggest Cornish land marks to visit. Look out over the 200ft high granite cliff edges across the vast Atlantic Ocean - On a clear day you can see out to the isles of Scilly! Along with the jaw-dropping views, there are restaurants, gift shops and other family friendly activities.
Top things to do...
Feed the farm – Get the kids involved at Greeb farm and feed the pigs, goats, ponies and other animals - A small coastal farm with big views!
Watch a movie with extras – Lands End has an impressive 4D cinema, so you don’t just watch a movie, you get squirting water, air blasts, seat vibrations and more to add to the cinema experience! Go on a quest - Arthur's Quest in fact! Experience the legend of King Arthur in an engaging attraction that uses the latest interactive technology and special effects. |
Go on a shopping spree – The West country shopping village has three temping shops to choose from, spoil yourself with specially selected clothing, accessories or a big bottle of Cornish scrumpy farm cyder, as well a host of other products from local suppliers.
Hike for miles – There are many Coastal trails around Lands End - You could walk to nearby Sennen cove which is around 3 miles. Its a fairly flat route, but does have some uneven climbs so ensuring you have the right footwear is recommended. Light up the sky – Every July and August Lands End stays open a little later on certain nights of the month to boast an amazing firework display. A truly unique place to watch a firework show! |

What is Lands End famous for...The end of the land!
Well... being the end of the land of course! Depending on which way you're coming from, it has been the first or last stop for generations of smugglers and pirates. Lands End gets battered by wild stormy seas, and over the years there have been more than 130 recorded shipwrecks and countless others wrecked by the dominating granite cliff rocks. |
If you only do one thing...A photo at the Lands End sign post
Taking a picture at the Lands End sign post is a must do when visiting Lands End. The site is now run by a private company and there is a small fee to pay off around £10 to take a snap, but this seems reasonable for the experience and memory of the occasion. Since 1995 around 15 million people have taken their photograph at the famous sign post, by doing so you become part of its history! |
